A lot of stuff was unavailable in the beta, including a bunch of weapons, perks, upgrades and killstreak bonuses, but the initial promise is that Sledgehammer will absolutely deliver on giving players a ton of stuff to unlock and progress with. While Divisions might be old ideas masked as new inventions, the progression in Call of Duty WW2 seems extensive. On top of class specific perks you can create unique characters, but the shake-up isn’t that significant at all. The Mountaineers can hold their breath while sniping, and the Expeditionaries carry a heavy shotgun that can be loaded with a limited amount of incendiary rounds. The Airborne Division, for example, wield a silencer that hides you from enemy radar when you fire your gun. Between Infantry, Airborne, Armored, Mountain and Expeditionary Divisions, you’ll find that they’re locked to certain types of weapons and abilities. Instead, you just need to consider the various different Division specific skills on offer. You can feel the punch and there’s a tangible sense of satisfaction when you get a well placed headshot. Just plain old fashioned shells and shrapnel. From the smaller automatic guns, to pistols, to the deadly incendiary shotgun, to sniper rifles, WW2 nails the sense of ascending sense of power between different types of weapons.īetter yet, the return to more traditional firearms means that Sledgehammer has been able to ditch the more obscure weapons of its futuristic efforts.
